Using Featured Images In Your WordPress Theme

A "featured image" is an image attached to a blog post that may be used in a specific way throughout a WordPress site, depending on the theme.

For example, your theme might use the five most current posts' featured images to build a slider on the homepage.

Where to Save a Featured Image

A post's featured image can be found in the right hand column of the post while in edit mode.

If no featured image exists, you may designate one by clicking "Set featured image".

If an image exists, you may remove it by clicking "Remove featured image". You can then designate a different image, or leave it blank.
